What is the reason for this? And is someone just pulling these prices out of a hat?
Believe it or not, prices are not pulled out of a hat. Instead, prices simply vary based on how busy we predict certain moving days to be and how many moves have already been booked for that specific time.
So it is a matter of balance between supply and demand.
The busiest days are usually
The end of the month, 21st–31st
The beginning of the month, 1st–5th
And random days throughout the month
The price variation at the end and beginning of the month can be explained by the fact that rental agreements often end at the turn of the month, and most people live specifically in rental apartments. However, the busyness of some days cannot be explained if people just happen to move on the same days.
How can I save on moving with the choice of moving day?
You can save on your move in three ways:
Book the move as early as possible
Choose a day in the middle of the month
Or by doing both
By booking early, days are only affected by the forecast of busyness. In addition, the moving day can become increasingly expensive when there are already several bookings for the day and supply decreases.
How do I know which days are affordable?
This is actually very easy. You only need to fill in your moving details on the booking page, and finally, when choosing the day, you will see the individual price for each day in the calendar.
What if I don't know all the details yet, but would already like to book a moving service?
This is a common issue. Some items might be going to recycling, or the floor of the new home is not known yet.
